BJP Karnataka State President and MLA BY Vijayendra on Wednesday alleged that senior Congress leader and AICC Karnataka in-charge Randeep Surjewala has arrived in the state to prepare the groundwork for Chief Minister Siddaramaiah's resignation.
Apprising reporters about the revised amount for the Yettinahole project, Siddaramaiah stated that the project, which would cost Rs 23,251 crore, is essentially a drinking water project for which the state government has spent Rs 17,147 crore to date.
The Karnataka Government on Wednesday challenged the Central Administrative Tribunal's decision to revoke the suspension of senior IPS officer Vikas Kumar in connection with the Chinnaswamy Stadium stampede case.
Speaking after visiting the Bhoga Nandishwara Temple, Siddaramaiah said, "What BJP says is only lies. You (media) only don't believe what they say. They're known for lies. They don't know speaking the truth. Doesn't matter whether they believe it or not, we are all together."
Speaking to the mediapersons, Shivakumar said, "What option do I have? I have to stand by him and support him. I don't have any objection to it, whatever the party high command tell and whatever they decides it will be fulfilled."
The clarification came amid speculation of a power tussle in the Karnataka unit of the Congress after the party formed the government in the State in 2023. Siddaramiah is the current Chief Minister, and DK Shivakumar is the Deputy Chief Minister.
Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said the state government is considering appealing the Central Administrative Tribunal's (CAT) decision that quashed the suspension order of senior IPS officer Vikas Kumar in connection with the Chinnaswamy Stadium stampede case.
As four heart attack deaths within 24 hours in Karnataka's Hassan district raised some alarm, the state government formed an expert committee on Tuesday to probe the exact cause of the deaths, ordering the committee to submit a report within 10 days, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said.
"Railway fares hiked!! Who bears the brunt? The daily wage workers, students, small traders, and the common man struggling under rising prices," the Chief Minister said in a post on X.
The quasi-judicial body stated that RCB didn't obtain permission from the police and posted about the gathering on social media platforms, which led to the assembly of approximately three to five lakh people. It said that police were not given sufficient time to make appropriate arrangements
"There is no change of leadership. I don't want anyone's support. My priority is for them (the party legislators) to win back the assembly elections," Shivakumar told ANI.
