Several wholesale and retail vegetable shops were gutted in the fire. Four fire tenders have rushed to the spot and efforts are on to douse the fire, fire officials said.
Shopkeepers noticed the fire and immediately alerted the local fire brigade. Following the information, a fire engine reached the spot, but its water drained out soon and the fire could not be controlled.
A massive fire broke out in three shops in Palika Bazar, Secunderabad on Sunday morning. Upon receiving the news, the fire tenders rushed to the spot near the Secunderabad Railway Station and started the rescue operation, said authorities.
"At least six shops and commercial establishments along with properties worth several lakhs of rupees were gutted in the fire incident," officials said.
At least 50 teams of the fire department were engaged to control the blaze, which broke out on Friday, officials said, adding that a team each from State Disaster Response Force and National Disaster Response Force were also pressed into service to douse the flames.
