In a joint operation of the Indian Army, Central Reserve Police Force and Jammu and Kashmir Police, two persons in possession of weapons were apprehended at Aloora in Jammu and Kashmir's Shopian on Sunday.
The Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) of Jammu and Kashmir Police, a specialized unit to check the rising menace of drugs, recovered a huge quantity of heroin worth crores of rupees in Shopian.
Under the operation 'drug-free Shopian', a drug peddler was arrested with allegedly 700 gram of heroin-like substance in the Fruit Mandi Aglar area here, police said on Monday.
"A contraband substance covered in a polythene bag, discovered as brown sugar weighing about 748 gms (worth 1.5 crore rupees) was recovered from his possession during the search," said police.
A Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorist involved in the killing of an army officer and Kashmiri Pandits was gunned down in an anti-terror operation in the Shopian district, the police informed on Friday.
As per the official press note, "In the ensuing exchange, the terrorist, identified as Kifayat Ayoub Alie son of Mohd Ayoub Alie resident of Pinjoora Shopian, associated with the proscribed terror outfit LeT, was neutralized, and his body was recovered from the encounter site".
A terrorist associate of Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind (AGH) has been arrested along with incriminating material, arms and ammunition at the Habdipora crossing in Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday, officials said.
