Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Thursday felicitated Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) chief S Somanath after the successful soft landing of Chandrayaan-3 on the moon’s lunar south pole.
Amid the Cauvery dispute between Tamil Nadu and Karnataka, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has said that Karnataka will argue the matter in the court because the petition filed by Tamil Nadu is not maintainable.
Calling the scientists ‘pride of the country’, Shivakumar said that the efforts of all the ISRO scientists and staff who worked hard for the project are unforgettable.
Deputy CM DK Shivakumar, former Chief Minister and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader BS Yediyurappa, Janata Dal-Secular (JD-S) leader HD Kumaraswamy, BJP MP Tejasvi Surya, Lok Sabha MP Sumalatha Ambareesh and several other leaders are present at the meeting.
Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Tuesday asked the Karnataka Government to let politics take it's own route after the Deputy Chief Minister of Karnataka, D K Shivakumar, decided to scrap the National Education Policy (NEP) in the state.
After meeting with representatives of different educational institutions and officials in Bengaluru on Monday, Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar said that the state government will form a new education policy scrapping the National Education Policy, 2020.
"He (ST Somashekar) has talked to me. I have also told him that it is an internal matter of the party. We will sort it out...I don't have much to say on this..." Joshi said while talking to the reporters.
Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar on Monday said Karnataka and Tamil Nadu are “neighbours” adding that he doesn’t want both states to fight with each other over the Cauvery issue.
"Karnataka government is calling an all-party meeting on water disputes related to Cauvery...it is on Wednesday (23rd August). I have called some senior Parliament members to be part of the meeting...to seek the solution we have called this meeting," said Karnataka Dy CM DK Shivakumar.
In the year 2019, 14 MLAs from the Congress and three MLAs from the JD(S) had quit their parties, which led to the collapse of the JD(S)-Congress government and led to the installation of the BJP government in the State.
