Due to continuous heavy rainfall and inclement weather conditions in several districts of Himachal Pradesh, train services on the Shimla-Kalka route have been suspended, an official said on Sunday.
The India Meteorological Department on Saturday issued a red alert for seven districts of the state and an orange alert for three districts for the next 48 hours as the state continued to receive heavy rainfall.

He said that the State Government has initiated the process of land acquisition for its expansion and assured that the state government would provide government land to the displaced people whose land would be acquired in the expansion process so that no one is left homeless.
Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Wednesday during 'Himachal Drone Conclave' emphasized the promotion of IT-driven governance in the state.
"Shimla District and Police administration have been given strict instructions regarding the preparations related to the apple season and the transportation of apples through trucks with GPS will be ensured", said Jagat Singh Negi, Horticulture Minister.
Heavy rains that disrupted the supply chain caused vegetable prices to soar in Shimla, making it difficult for the local population to pay for household expenses.
The apple growers have reportedly started covering apple groves with anti-hail nets to protect the crops from hail and other natural disasters in the North Indian state of Himachal Pradesh, the officials said on Wednesday.
