The regional Meteorological Department in Shimla has issued a yellow alert for light to moderate rainfall with thunder likely to occur in parts of Himachal Pradesh.
At around 2:35 am to 2:40 am, due to rains, Shimla National Highway 5, between Thambu Mod and Chakki Mod, has been closed due to landslides from the hill, officials said.
The truck, carrying a load of apples, overturned on the Shimla-Kinnaur National Highway near the Mashobra bifurcation on the road connecting to Sunni, Tattapani and Karsog.
HP traffic, tourist and railway police tweeted, “A massive landslide occurred near Parala Mandi, under the Tehsil of Theog, resulting in a complete blockade of traffic in the area.”
