The National Commission for Women has taken suo moto cognisance of the shocking murder of a woman in Shillong, reportedly killed by her husband. NCW Chairperson Vijaya Rahatkar has written to the Meghalaya DGP demanding the immediate arrest of the accused.

The man, Balvir Ahirwar, was reportedly working as a watchman and carpenter at a flat where Sonam Raghuvanshi, one of the key accused, stayed after the murder.
"The court has remanded both the accused for 13 days of judicial custody. The police did not ask for custody. The Investigating Officer pleaded for judicial custody. The court granted 13-day judicial custody," Chanda told ANI.
The District Session Court in Shillong on Thursday sent Sonam Raghuvanshi and Raj Kushwaha to 2 days police custody and the other 3 to 14 days judicial custody.

When asked about Sonam's involvement in the case, Govind told ANI, "Sonam will definitely have a role. This channel of Raj Kushwaha, Vishal and others became through Sonam only, and this confirms her involvement. That is why I believe that she has a role."

The hotel manager of the hotel where Raja Raghuvanshi and Sonam Raghuvanshi had kept their luggage during their search for a hotel room has shared the CCTV footage with the Police.
Speaking to ANI, ADCP Rajesh Dandotiya said, "...Indore police's help was sought by Shillong police. The Shillong police team has been here since June 7. Now they have reached Shillong. 4 accused related to Indore were arrested by the Crime Branch. The Indore Crime Branch is not investigatin
