Shia Muslims in Budgam on Sunday staged a demonstration against the killing of Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who was killed in Israeli and US strikes.
Protesters raised anti-US and anti-Israel slogans, expressing solidarity with Iran and condemning the attack. A protestor told ANI, "Today, our beloved leader, Ali Khamenei, was brutally martyred.... Yes, this mourning procession is going on peacefully in the city centre."
Kashmiri Shia Muslims in Srinagar and Budgam staged demonstrations in support of Iran and protested against the United States and Israel amid the ongoing unrest in the Islamic Republic.
Parliamentarians, human rights advocates, and community representatives provided testimony and presented documented evidence revealing that atrocities against Hindus, Christians, Shias, and Ahmadis are not isolated incidents.
Security measures have been heightened in Delhi ahead of Muharram processions on Wednesday. Elaborate arrangements are in place to ensure the safety and smooth conduct of 'tazia' processions across the national capital.
Muharram holds significant religious importance for Shia Muslims. In India, the 7-8 crore Shia Muslim community, along with people of different religions, participate in large processions and tazias.
"PoK will merge with India on its own, wait for some time," the Union minister for State said while responding to a query in a press conference here in Dausa regarding demands of Shia Muslims in PoK seeking opening of border crossing with India.
The press conference was addressed by President JUAIK Ladakh, Sheikh Nazir Mehdi Mohammadi who said that the persecution of Shia Muslims of Pakistan is not a new thing whether its Quetta or any other place, the killers of Shias are known and roaming free.
