The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Wednesday sealed the residence of Trinamool Congress leader Sheikh Shahjahan in Sandeshkhali, North 24 Parganas district of West Bengal
Earlier on January 5, ED officials were attacked when they were on their way to carry out raids at the residence of Sheikh Shahjahan and fellow TMC leader Shankar Adhya at Sandeshkhali in the North 24 Parganas district.
As ruling TMC strongman and panchayat leader Sheikh Shahjahan, continued to remain absconding in light of the attack on ED teams that were out raiding his residence, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Saturday said he would be tracked down and arrested from wherever he is hiding.
The ED team was attacked in West Bengal's Sandeskh Khali after it had raided certain locations in North 24 Parganas district in connection with a ration distribution scam case.
"There are big criminals and scamsters here...The incident happened near the Bangladesh border which is a sensitive area...There are inputs that he is hiding in some TMC leader's house but it's difficult to take action there," Dilip Ghosh said.
Lashing out at the ruling Trinamool Congress government following an attack on an Enforcement Directorate team in West Bengal two days ago, West Bengal Congress president Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury alleged that the law and order situation is "deteriorating" in the state.

As per reports, the ED was conducting raids at the residence of former Bongaon Municipality Chairman Shankar Adhya in Bangaon and TMC leader Sheikh Shahjahan's house in connection with the alleged ration scam case.
