Senior Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader of Kerala PC Chacko on Thursday met Sharad Pawar and said that efforts are underway to persuade him to remain as party president.
"Pawar Saheb has taken the decision. He still stands by his decision for now. However, people from all over Maharashtra and other places are requesting him to take back his decision," said Patil while addressing a press conference.

Hours after veteran leader Sharad Pawar announced his decision of stepping down as the president of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), scores of party workers on Tuesday hit the streets in Mumbai and protested against the decision.
After Sharad Pawar stepped down as Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief on Tuesday, nephew Ajit Pawar said the NCP veteran would take two to three days to rethink his decision.
"We all are very sad and disturbed. But, all the prominent leaders (from the party) will go to him and will try to persuade him. We are hopeful that something positive will come out," Praful Patel said.
Moments after senior NCP leader Sharad Pawar announced his resignation from the party president's post on Tuesday, his nephew Ajit Pawar supported the former's decision saying that the next party chief will work under Sharad Pawar.
