The Supreme Court on Friday directed that the notice issued by the Sambhal Nagar Palika regarding the well outside the Sambhal mosque should not be executed.
Advocate Vishnu Shankar Jain on the recent developments in the Sambhal issue stated that the Sambhal Mosque Committee had approached the Supreme Court seeking to maintain the status quo of the well situated outside the Shahi Jama Masjid.
The mosque committee urged the top court to issue directions to the DM and not to take any steps/actions with regard to the investigation of the well, and open the well-constructed outside the structure without due permission from this court.
The district administration team visited Sambhal to check on the noise pollution through loudspeakers, the Sambhal District Magistrate (DM) said, adding that they found that there was electricity (power) theft in the area.
The Sambhal area had violent clashes as people protested the court-mandated Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) examination of the mosque. The violence resulted in four deaths and multiple injuries among police personnel and locals.
