"The incident took place after Soni and her husband Satbir had a fight with their neighbours over the filling of water from a common water tap," said the police.
Delhi Eastern Range's Additional CP Sagar Singh Kalsi on late Saturday took stock of security arrangements in several areas of Shahdara District ahead of Republic Day on January 26.
According to officials, the woman's body was recovered from the Vishwas Nagar colony under Farsh Bazaar police station in Shahdara district on Sunday evening.
Earlier, some locals had also complained about illegal activities at hookah bars in the area of Shahdara District. The team of Special Staff was tasked with preventing and detecting such crimes in the area.
Ahead of the G-20 meeting in Delhi, local police and BSF jawans patrolled the Yamuna river on a boat in Delhi's Shahdara district to prevent any untoward incidents from happening.
"East Delhi, North East Delhi, and Shahdara districts are the entry points for Kanwariyas in Delhi. Therefore, 85 camps are being set up in these three districts so that Kanwariyas do not face any difficulties," the release stated.
According to DCP Shahdara Rohit Meena, "On 22 May, a team of Seemapuri Police Station on secret information traced the kidnapped girl age 32 years (now) who was kidnapped 17 years ago."
