Cyclone Montha is likely to intensify into a 'Severe Cyclonic Storm' (SCS) and cross the Andhra Pradesh coast between Machilipatnam and Kalingapatnam during the evening and night of October 28, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Monday.

The weather system, situated over the Bay of Bengal, is likely to intensify into a severe cyclonic storm and make landfall near Kakinada in Andhra Pradesh on Tuesday night, the India Meteorological Department said in a special bulletin.
The India Meteorological Department has issued a red alert for several districts of Andhra Pradesh in view of the severe cyclonic storm expected to form in the Bay of Bengal.
The system is currently located about 990 km southeast of Kakinada and is expected to cross the coast between Machilipatnam and Kakinada on the evening or night of October 28, according to the release.
