DMK chief ruled out any shared governance model with the party allies amid the reports of Congress demanding ministerial berths in the government. Congress maintained that the alliance remains "very strong" and reiterated that the party will hold alliance talks on February 22.
"The INDIA alliance is very strong. The DMK-led alliance is an extremely strong alliance. The Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam will win again and achieve consecutive victories," Selvaperunthagai said while talking to reporters at Chennai airport.
Responding to AIADMK General Secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami's remarks on the DMK-Congress alliance, Tamil Nadu Congress President K. Selvaperunthagai on Monday said Palaniswami should focus on protecting his own party instead of commenting on the alliance.
Congress MP from the Tamil Sivaganga Lok Sabha constituency Karti Chidambaram, however, told ANI today that his party's partnership with the DMK is intact and that they will fight the upcoming election unitedly to defeat the opposition AIADMK-BJP alliance.
The state Congress chief said that party leaders in the state have already engaged in detailed talks regarding constituency allocation and have conveyed their recommendations to the All India Congress leadership.
