In a significant operation against drug trafficking in Tripura, the Assam Rifles, in collaboration with the Customs Department, on Sunday seized 188 kilograms of marijuana valued at approximately Rs 84.60 lakh.

According to an official release, specific intelligence was developed by the officers of DRI that foreign-origin gold is being smuggled into India from Srilanka through the Vedhalai coast in Ramnathapuram District by a gang using a fishing boat.
According to customs officials, 24k gold weighing 1.421 kg, valued at Rs 99.18 lakh, was recovered from a Malaysian woman passenger who came from Kuala Lumpur on April 5 on an Air India Express flight. The gold was concealed in paste form in undergarments, the official added.
"In the last 3 months 14,000 people have been arrested and sent to judicial custody. In addition to that more than 1,000 vehicles have been seized to check the trafficking of liquor from bordering states," Narasingha Bhol added.
Partha Sarathi Mahanta, IGP (STF) told ANI that, out of 21 kg of heroin that were seized last night in the Silchar area, there is 18 kg of pure form of heroin.
