In two separate operations conducted this week, the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) has seized 23.34 kg of smuggled foreign gold valued at Rs. 14.43 crore through Chennai International Airport and foiled an attempt to smuggle foreign gold into the country.
A 52-year-old woman was arrested on Friday in the Malappuram district of Kerala for allegedly selling MDMA, said police. 13 grams of MDMA, a weighing device and Rs 20,000 were seized from her rented house in Morayur area of Malapuram, the police added.
"In the last two years, Assam police seized drugs worth more than Rs 1430.22 crore. During the period, a total of 5580 cases have been registered in the state under NDPS Act," Assam DGP GP Singh said.
