Officials of the Mumbai Airport said they have seized 24 KT gold dust and 24 KT jewellery valued at Rs 0.43 crore from an Indian national travelling from Dubai.
The Air Intelligence Unit (AIU) at Kochi Airport has seized 848.75 gms of suspected foreign-origin gold in a compund form, worth approximately Rs 44 lakh, an official statement said on Sunday.
According to officials, "Delhi Customs Preventive, New Customs House, seized 27 gold bars weighing more than 3 kg worth Rs 1.96 crore from two foreign nationals at the Indira Gandhi International Airport on Thursday."
"On the basis of profiling done by AIU batch intercepted one lady passenger, Jossy from Kozhikode, at the green channel, who arrived from Italy to Cochin via Doha vide Flight QR516," said officials.
"On the basis of profiling, Delhi Customs at IGI Airport have seized gold bars weighing 5,198 gms valued at 2.81 crore brought by two Indian nationals from Bangkok. All two passengers were arrested under the Customs Act of 1962," said the customs officials.
One passenger was intercepted at Cochin International Airport for allegedly carrying 913.09 grams of gold worth Rs 45 lakh, an official statement said on Friday.
The Special Task Force (STF) of Assam Police on Thursday recovered and seized five pieces of gold wire, weighing 518 grams from a vehicle at Jorabat on the outskirts of Guwahati along the Assam-Meghalaya border.
Hyderabad Customs Department on Wednesday seized 412 grams of gold estimated to be worth Rs 24.92 lakhs during a check-up at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport here in Hyderabad city, officials said.
