Uttar Pradesh special director general of police (law and order), Prashant Kumar on Saturday announced extensive security measures in view of Diwali festive season.
Speaking about the security arrangements for 'Ravana Dahan' in Patna's Gandhi Maidan, District Magistrate Chandrashekhar Singh said, "We have made all the arrangements to maintain the law and order, barricading has been done and citizens will be allowed to the maidan from gate no. 5, 7 and 1
The strike called by activists and farmers came after the Supreme Court on Thursday refused to interfere with the order of the Cauvery Water Management Authority.
According to railway officials, the Railway Protection Force (RPF) has increased security vigil and started conducting surprise checks at platforms, passengers, and railway tracks, along with using sniffer dog squads.
ACP DLF Gurugram, Vikas Kaushik while speaking to ANI has said that, "Gurugram is peaceful and no incident has been reported for the last 2-3 days. We feel that today's Panchayat will be carried out peacefully."
