Ahead of Cyclone Biparjoy's landfall, India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Thursday said that the Very Severe Cyclonic Storm (VSCS) can cause severe damage to small structures like thatched houses and uproot trees.
Also, under the influence of the cyclone, high tidal waves hit Gujarat, on Thursday. According to the IMD, VSCS (very severe cyclonic storm) Biparjoy is to cross Saurashtra & Kutch & adjoining Pakistan coasts b/w Mandvi & Karachi near Jakhau Port by the evening of June 15.
597 teams have been prepared urgently to restore the power supply immediately by calling teams from other districts in potentially affected areas,NDRF DIG said.
