As the first Amrit Snan of Maha Kumbh 2025 on the auspicious occasion of Makar Sankranti begins as Sadhus from Sadhus of Mahanirvani Panchayati Akhada take a holy dip at the Triveni Sangam -- a sacred confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna and 'mystical' Saraswati river.
As the Maha Kumbh 2025 began in Prayagraj on Monday, Chidanand Saraswati, the spiritual head of the Rishikesh-based Parmarth Niketan Ashram, urged people to go back with the resolution to conserve rivers and plant trees.

Reacting to Azad's comments, Saraswati said, "At least Chandrashekhar accepted that taking a dip in the Ganga washes away our sins. Otherwise, his agents didn't even accept this. He doesn't consider his misdeeds as sinful..."
Jagadguru Shankaracharya Swami Avimukteshwaranand Saraswati Maharaj on Saturday condemned Azad Samaj Party national president Chandrashekhar Azad remark on Mahakumbh, saying that if people are making an effort to remove their sins, then no one should have any problem with it.
As the 2025 Maha Kumbh nears its commencement date, the crowd gathering at the holy Sangam in Uttar Pradesh's Prayagraj, Sumeru Peethadhishwar Shankaracharya Narendranand Saraswati said that Uniform Civil Code and population control should be put into effect.
"The making of Sanatan Board is a vague issue and by doing aren't we playing in the hands of those who want to keep All India Muslim Personal Law Board and Waqf Board alive? Who will give the lands to Sanatan Board?" Saraswati said.
