Ahead of the protests over the alleged illegal construction of Sanjauli mosque called on Wednesday, heavy police force has been deployed at the Dhalli tunnel in Shimla.
Amid the ongoing controversy over the legality of the under-construction Sanjauli Masjid in Shimla, Himachal Pradesh Director General of Police (DGP) Atul Verma termed it as "local dispute" and said that the administration is trying to diffuse the matter and prevent any unfortunate incident.
Amid the Sanjauli Mosque row, the leader of opposition in the Himachal Pradesh legislative assembly and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Jai Ram Thakur demanded action on the construction of the mosque.
The fate of the mosque will be decided in the Municipal Commissioner's court. The case has been scheduled to be heard on September 7, in which it will be decided whether the 'unauthorised construction' should be demolished or not.
