Ahmedabad Civil Hospital Superintendent Rakesh Joshi on Wednesday confirmed that DNA samples of 190 victims from the tragic London-bound Air India plane crash have matched with their family members, and the mortal remains of 157 have been handed over.
Gujarat Home Minister Harsh Sanghavi on Wednesday announced that 184 DNA samples have been matched so far after the tragic London-bound Air India plane crash.
Ahmedabad Civil Hospital Superintendent Rakesh Joshi on Tuesday reported that a total of 163 DNA samples have been matched from the tragic London-bound Air India plane crash as of 5:45 pm today, with 124 mortal remains of the victims handed over to their families.
Sanghavi praised the ongoing efforts, stating, "...For the last many days, FSL and NFSU teams are tirelessly working round the clock. Till 10:58 pm, 131 patients' DNA have been matched, and in some time, 6 more DNA certificates will be sent to the Civil Hospital..."
Addressing the media, Dr Joshi stated, "We have matched DNA samples of 119 victims. Of these, 76 mortal remains have already been handed over to their respective families."
Following DNA sample matching, the State's Health Department and the Civil Hospital Administration have established a complete system to ensure smooth execution of all procedures, from contacting the relatives of the deceased to handing over the mortal remains.
"The total number of DNA sample matches has reached 80, out of which 33 bodies have been handed over respectfully to the relatives," said Dr Rajneesh Patel.
