Condoling the demise of veteran Sri Lankan Tamil leader R Sampanthan, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Monday that he "will always cherish fond memories of meetings" with him.
In a letter to Sri Lanka's President Ranil Wickremesinghe, TNA leader R Sampanthan said that building a temple in a region where he claimed 99 per cent of residents are Tamil has led to unrest amongst the people.
In the letter, TNA leader R Sampanthan said that the Tamil People’s safety, security, identity and existence as a Nation are inseparable from India's national security, especially in its southern neighbourhood.
