Former chief minister of Uttar Pradesh and National President of Samajwadi Party, Akhilesh Yadav has said that his party would win Mainpuri by-elections.
Samajwadi Party Chief Akhilesh Yadav on Monday alleged that police is trying to prevent voters from casting votes in the by-polls and even resorting to lathi charge in Rampur.

A day ahead of the Mainpuri Lok Sabha bypoll, Pragatisheel Samajwadi Party (Lohia) president Shivpal Singh Yadav on Sunday alleged that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is sabotaging the Lok Sabha by-polls as drones are being used to monitor his party workers and his home.
"Samajwadi Party is going to win elections in Mainpuri. Whenever BJP faces defeat they come up with false allegations against us. Election Commission will make sure that fair elections are conducted," he said.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Friday said that 'Samajwad' is no longer the same as founded by Jayaprakash Narayan or Ram Manohar Lohia instead, it has new faces like the 'Lathait Samajwad', 'Poonji' and 'Awsarwadi Samajwad' and they are all like a family.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath in a veiled attack on Samajwadi Party leaders, referred to them as "opportunists" and said that Rampur would no longer be a toy in the hands of those who sought to ruin the heritage of the place.
