Earlier on Tuesday, in view of the continuous heavy rainfall in the Reasi region, the authorities opened all the gates of the Salal Dam to regulate the rising water level of the Chenab River.
Residents living in low-lying areas along the Chenab River, including Talwada, Kansi Patta, Thanpal, Chinka, Gujrkothi, and Jendi, have been alerted about the rising water level.

The gates of Salal Dam, built on the Chenab River in the Reasi district of Jammu and Kashmir, were closed earlier due to the recent conflict between India and Pakistan over the ghastly Pahalgam terror attack.
The local residents have come in support of the action taken by the Indian government against Pakistan, saying that it was a step to "teach them a lesson".
