Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Friday revealed an alleged 'Cash-for-treatment' scam in central government-run Safdarjung Hospital. Doctors along with brokers have been caught demanding bribes from poor people for treatment, overbilling patients and laundering money.
The Central Bureau of Investigation on Thursday arrested a neurosurgeon of Safdarjung Hospital in New Delhi and four others for allegedly being involved in illegal activities and accepting money in exchange for medical advice.
"After the agency had received complaints related to a doctor and middlemen, raids in Delhi were conducted last evening to expose the nexus between them. During raids, CBI found increment documents related to corruption," a CBI official told AN

The Delhi High Court on Tuesday called for an additional status report in a matter related to death of a patient who allegedly jumped off from the roof of the hospital from a high security Covid isolation ward. It has been claimed by the authorities that the patient committed suicide.
