Lashing out at the ruling Trinamool Congress in West Bengal over the Purulia incident, where a group of Sadhus was allegedly thrashed by a mob, Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury on Saturday said that the law and order in the state is in very bad condition.
Notably, a video went viral on Friday that showed a group of seers being purportedly stripped and assaulted by a mob in the Purulia district of West Bengal.
"A case has been initiated on the complaint by the Sadhus. 12 people have been arrested so far and an investigation is underway. We have taken some people into police custody for further investigation," Purulia SP Avijit Banerjee said.
"Appeasement politics has created such an environment....The question is how Bengal is being driven by this appeasement politics. And why is there such anti-Hindu thinking?" Thakur said speaking to reporters on Saturday.
