External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar held a telephonic conversation with US counterpart Marco Rubio on Wednesday and discussed the recent terrorist attack that took place in Jammu and Kashmir's Pahalgam.
Expressing his sorrow for the lives lost in the "horrific terrorist attack" in Pahalgam, Rubio also encouraged India to work with Pakistan to "de-escalate tensions" and maintain peace and security in South Asia, US State Department spokesperson Tammy Bruce said in a statement.
"This landmark step will ensure that India has authentic, scientific, and transparent caste data--moving away from politically motivated state-level surveys that often lacked credibility or uniformity," he added.
External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar on Wednesday spoke with the Foreign Minister of Kuwait, Abdullah Ali Al-Yahya, and thanked him for Kuwait's solidarity and support following the April 22 terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir.
