US President Donald Trump has floated the possibility of a trilateral meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to continue peace talks amid the war in Europe, which is now in its fourth year.
Speaking to reporters, Trump said, "Russia wants to see Ukraine succeed. It sounds a little strange, but President Putin was very generous in his feelings toward Ukraine succeeding, including supplying energy, electricity and other things at very low prices."

Speaking to reporters outside the resort, when asked whether he had set any deadline for ending the Russia-Ukraine war, Trump made it clear that he has no deadline for a peace deal this time.
"...We're in the final stages of talking. We're going to see. Otherwise, it's going to go on for a long time. It'll either end, or it's going to go on for a long time, and millions of additional people are going to be killed, and nobody wants that," Trump said.

Speaking in Halifax, Nova Scotia, alongside Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, Zelensky linked the prolonged assault to Russia's intentions, a day before his meeting with US President Donald Trump in Florida.
During the call, Zelenskyy stressed that strong military and diplomatic positions are essential to "prevent Russian President Vladimir Putin from manipulating and evading a real and just end to the war."
Zelenskyy arrived in Halifax a day ahead of his planned discussions with Trump. His visit came amid one of the heaviest aerial assaults on Ukraine's capital in recent weeks, which left at least one woman dead and disrupted electricity and heating supplies across large parts of the city.
