In a surprise address at Asia's premier security summit which is taking place in Singapore, President Volodymyr Zelensky warned on Sunday that China's backing of Russia will prolong the conflict in Ukraine.
As Asia's premier security summit continues to witness the presence of leaders from across the world, the latest to join the Shangri La Dialogue in Singapore was Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelenskyy who met US Secretary of Defence Lloyd Austin on Sunday there.
"Once there is any conflict, any war...once you turn on the switch it is very difficult to turn it off. Once the problem starts, it turns to pick up on its own," Jaishankar said.
This is the fourth in-person meeting between Xi and Putin since the invasion and Putin's second visit to Beijing in that time. Xi also visited Moscow in 2023 after entering his new term as China's president.
