Amid Assam's ongoing eviction drive against illegal settlers in its reserve forests, Nagaland has been placed on high alert due to fears of a possible influx across the state's borders. Director General of Police (DGP) Nagaland, Rupin Sharma, IPS, addressed the situation on Tuesday, detailin
"It's not a small case, 60kgs of drug(heroin) being trafficked over one year by just one network is a huge case", the DGP said adding that almost 400 crores rupees of drugs trafficked by just one network is huge.
The Ministry of Home Affairs on Tuesday extended the Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) in parts of Nagaland and Arunachal Pradesh for another six months.
The court passed the order on a petition filed against the extension granted to Nagaland's incumbent DGP, T John Longkumer. It also sought UPSC's response.
