Amid an uptick in coronavirus infections in India, there is no plan so far to make RT-PCR testing for Covid 19 mandatory at Airports for travellers in the country, official sources in the Health Ministry said on Thursday.
The specific case of JN.1 was identified in an RT-PCR positive sample from Karakulam, Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, on December 8. The patient, who initially tested positive on November 18, experienced mild symptoms of ILI and has since recovered from COVID-19.
“The earlier requirements for RT-PCR based testing of a random 2 per cent subset of international travellers to India now stands dropped,” said the government note.

Meanwhile, the cumulative active cases in the national capital stood at 2876. "A total of 440 patients have successfully recovered from Covid. A total of 1392 rapid antigen tests were conducted RT-PCR tests in the last 24 hours.
