Two roof collapses in Lahore's Azhar Town and Shahdara Town neighbourhoods during the ongoing spell of rain across Pakistan's Punjab injured at least nine people, reported Dawn on Saturday.
Two people were killed after the wall of their house collapsed in Manshera. Meanwhile, a woman was killed and six others were injured in Buner due to a roof collapse. Two people were injured after the roof collapsed in Mardan.
According to the statement, 10 people were injured in wall and roof collapse incidents in Lahore, three in Chiniot and one in Sheikhupura. Meanwhile, seven people were wounded after they were hit by lightning.
A total of eight people were killed while 11 have been rescued so far, after the roof of potato cold storage collapsed in the Chandausi area of Sambhal, informed officials.
"The incident happened around 11.30 am. We are trying to evacuate the trapped people as soon as possible. As many as 20-30 people are reported to be trapped," Moradabad DIG Sambhal Shalabh Mathur said.
Officials ruled out few chances of anyone remaining buried under debris, and said that priliminary information revealed about the construction being done illegally.
