Due to intermittent rains in the Chamoli district, from Sunday night, the Badrinath national highway has been blocked due to debris triggered by a landslide. Many vehicles have been buried under the debris.
The Gangotri National Highway, 500 meters ahead of Bhatwadi, has been closed to traffic since morning due to falling of debris. This has caused a disruption for the devotees of the Gangotri Dham Yatra, who are now stranded on the route, according to the district administration of Uttarkas
The family members of a woman who died in suspicious circumstances blocked the road with carrying the dead body in the Poothan Sakrauli Civil Line area in Etawah on Wednsday. They alleged that the woman faced continuous harassment from some police personnel, resulting in her death.
According to the release, heavy torrential rains were witnessed in Lachen, Lachung and Chungthang valleys on Friday. As a result of this, approximately 500 tourists who were travelling to Lachung and Lachen Valley were stranded at Chungthang, due to landslides and road blocks en route.
