The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Monday activated the Election Management System (EMS) for the returning officers (ROs) ahead of the Pakistan general elections 2024, ARY News reported.
The Tribunal declared the decision of returning officers as void and approved the nomination papers of Pakistan's leader for Rawalpindi's National Assembly constituencies NA-56 and NA-57.
Earlier, the Pakistan Election Commission's returning officer (RO) of National Assembly (NA)-130 Lahore accepted the nomination papers of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) supremo Nawaz Sharif for the upcoming general elections, The Express Tribune reported on Tuesday.
The ECP's spokesperson said 850 ROs and 144 DROs are currently being trained by senior ECP officers. The training of the officers is expected to be completed by December 19.
The Pakistan Supreme Court on Friday suspended the Lahore High Court order staying the appointment of returning officers and district returning officers and directed the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to issue the election schedule by Friday night, Dawn reported.
