Former Chief Minister of Bihar and President of the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) Lalu Prasad Yadav on Thursday said that there is "no retirement in politics" while responding to Maharashtra deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar's jibe on his uncle Sharad Pawar's age.
Chavan's remark comes a day after Ajit Pawar urged the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) President, Sharad Pawar to step down and give a chance to the new generation stating that even leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) retire at the age of 75.
Amid the ongoing Maharashtra NCP crisis, a dig taken by Maharashtra Deputy CM Ajit Pawar at his uncle and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) president Sharad Pawar, over his age left Sharad Pawar's party member and loyalist fuming and resulted into chain of reactions.
Anil Deshmukh, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader and a loyalist to NCP president Sharad Pawar on Wednesday referred Pawar as "Lion" and said that 82-year-old Lion is still alive.
Maharashtra Deputy CM Ajit Pawar on Wednesday alleged his uncle and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar of portraying him as "villain" and further taking a dig at his age urged him to retire referring to leaders in BJP.
He added, "Gratuity will be given to them on retirement. 50 percent reservation will be given in recruitment to regular posts. Leave facilities will be also given at par with regular employees, especially maternity leave. The deducted salary of the contractual employees will be refunded and
"I won't indulge in politics...I want to do more for my people and only after I achieve that will I exit public life. there is nothing to be achieved in becoming an MP or a minister. We the TIPRA society need to speak as one voice especially to Delhi," he said.
"In view of UCC, this visit of the Chief Minister to Delhi is considered very important, because yesterday, retired Justice Ranjana Prakash Desai, the chairman of the committee on UCC, said that the draft of the committee regarding UCC has been prepared," said the officials.
Jayasuriya made his international debut in 1989 for Sri Lanka and retired from the game at its highest level in 2011. His longevity and consistency made him one of sport's household names worldwide.
