This comes as part of a joint rescue operation of the Indian Army, Assam Rifles, NDRF, SDRF teams and other agencies to rescue 9 people who have been trapped in a coal mine at 3 Kilo, Umrangso area here since January 6. Today (January 10) marks the fifth day of the rescue and relief efforts.

To ensure the safety and well-being of pilgrims during the iconic Gangasagar Mela 2025, the 2nd battalion of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) has deployed five specialized search and rescue teams, said a press statement from NDRF on Thrusday.
"Labourers feared trapped at an iron-making factory in Sargaon, Mungeli after the silo structure of the factory collapsed. One injured labourer has been admitted to a hospital. Police and Administration are present at the spot. Rescue operation is underway," said Mungeli Collector Rahul D
HPS Kandari, Commandant of the 1st Battalion, NDRF, said, "A deep-diver team of the Indian Navy has entered into the 300-foot-deep coal mine. He said, A heavy water pump from Coal India has arrived at Silchar airport and will move to the site soon."
"The Indian Navy team, Indian army and NDRF have jointly started the search & rescue operation with the help of sonar equipment for the third day at the coal mine site."
The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) on Wednesday started removing water at the Dima Hasao coal mine to rescue 8 people who have been trapped since Monday.
The Indian Navy is making all possible efforts to rescue 9 people who were trapped in a coal mine at 3 Kilo, Umrangso area, since Monday and now going down to the shaft as efforts to dewater the well are also underway, informed Special DGP, Assam, Harmeet Singh.
The Indian Navy has mobilized a specialized rescue team with deep diving gear and underwater ROVs for the rescue of trapped miners in Umrangso, Assam. The team has arrived and is actively assisting in the operation in Dima Hasao district.
In Assam's Umrangso, the Indian Navy has deployed a team of specialists, including Clearance Divers, to assist in the rescue of miners trapped in a deep mining accident. The team is already on-site in the Dima Hasao district.
