Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on Thursday unfurled the Tricolour at his official residence in Mumbai on the occasion of the 74th Republic Day.
The Egyptian military contingent led by Colonel Mahmoud Mohamed Abdel Fattah El Kharasawy consisting of 144 soldiers represented the main branches of the Egyptian armed forces.
"I am very pleased to send my warmest congratulations to Your Excellency and to the Government and people of the Republic of India on your Republic Day," read a press release addressed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi from Brunei's Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah.
The unfurling of the Tricolour was followed by the national anthem and the customary 21 Gun Salute. Notably, it was for the first time that the 21 Gun Salute was given with 105 mm Indian Field Guns. It replaced the vintage 25-pounder gun.
"Based on the history of our two ancient civilizations, India and Israel share a great strategic partnership. The love and respect between our people go beyond diplomacy. Israel wishes all Indians a very happy Republic Day," Gilon said.
"As far as the Navy is concerned, we have more than 40 ships and submarines at various shipyards. I have absolute faith and trust in each one of you," Vice Admiral MA Hampiholi said after reviewing the Republic Day parade of the Navy.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday paid floral tributes to fallen soldiers at the National War Memorial on eve of the 74th Republic Day celebrations.
Out of the 14 awards announced, one officer will receive the President's Police Medal for Distinguished Service and 13 will get the Police Medal for Meritorious Service.
