Renuka Chowdhury, a member of the Rajya Sabha, expressed her concern and said, "This is a very unfortunate incident. A majority of females have died in this incident."
The death toll in the stampede incident which occurred in the Hathras district of Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday has gone up to 121. Around 28 people have sustained injuries in the incident, the Office of Relief Commissioner said on Wednesday.
The four-day pilgrimage was flagged off today from the Nagrota areaby Divisional Commissioner Jammu Ramesh Kumar, Relief Commissioner Dr Arvind Karwani and other officers of the divisional administration.
"As cumulative, during this Summer, 147 cases of alleged sun stroke death have been reported and 30 have been confirmed, 20 cases are not due to sun stroke and 97 cases are pending with the Collectors for inquiry," a press release from the Special Relief Commissioner said.

Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) Satyabrata Sahu, who is closely monitoring the situation through State Emergency Operation Center on Thursday said that scores of people were evacuated and sheltered in safe places following the heavy rain and flood-like situation in the state.
