As the deadline to send Afghan refugees from Pakistan nears, the European Union's representation in Afghanistan has pledged 15 million euros to assist returning migrants, as per their commitment to aid individuals undertaking the arduous journey back to their homeland, reported Khaama Press.
The Taliban-led Ministry of Refugees and Repatriation of Afghanistan has said that more than 5,000 Afghan migrants have returned to their country from Pakistan and Iran, Afghanistan-based Khaama Press reported.
The Taliban-led Ministry of Refugees and Repatriations on Monday in a post shared on X, formerly known as Twitter, said that around 774 Afghan refugees arrived in Afghanistan through the Islam Qala border crossing in Herat province.
Afghan migrants who were deported by Turkey have voiced grievances about mistreatment at the hands of Turkish border forces, alleging that they were subjected to physical abuse and torture following their arrest, TOLOnews reported.
Over 74,000 Afghan migrants have returned to the country from Iran through the Silk Road crossing point in the past month, said Taliban's provincial officials at the Refugees and Repatriation Department of Western Nimroz province, according to Khaama Press.
The Taliban-led Ministry of Refugees and Repatriation said that Afghan refugees entered Afghanistan through the Spin Boldak crossing point in Southern Kandahar province on Sunday and Monday respectively.
At least 534 Afghan refugees visited Afghanistan through Islam Qala in Western Herat Province, according to the Taliban-led Ministry of Refugees and Repatriation (MoRR).
Over the past on month, nearly 65, 000 Afghan refugees returned to the country from Iran, Khaama Press reported citing the Taliban-led Ministry of Refugees and Repatriation.
According to the Taliban border official, out of those 147 Afghan refugees, 67 were referred to the International Organization for Migration (IOM) to receive food and other basic requirements.
