Soma Sen Roy, senior scientist at IMD, said that severe heatwave conditions have been prevailing in Gangetic West Bengal for many days and hence a red alert has been issued.
Speaking to ANI, S Balachandran, Director of Chennai Regional Meteorological Centre said, "For the next 24 hours, 'Red' alert to continue for Tenkasi, Thoothukudi, Tiruvaneli and Kanyakumari districts."
