Officials of Pune Police have apprehended a 22-year-old man on charges of allegedly abducting, wrongfully confining, and raping a minor girl who had been reported missing four years ago from Manchar in the district.
"Last night, police arrested the accused from Maharashtra and sent him to judicial remand, he added. Further course of action in the case is being taken as per the law," said Durg Superintendent of Police (SP) Shalabh Kumar Sinha.
Mumbai police have arrested a 45-year-old man from the Navi Mumbai area for allegedly raping a 38-year-old teacher after trespassing on her house, officials said.
"The arrested person was identified as 50-year-old Rafiqul Islam. He allegedly raped a girl at Professor Colony Lama village under Dhekiajuli police station in Sonitpur district two years back and after committing the crime the accused person was absconding,' police said.
The 14-and-a-half-year-old victim used to live along with her mother and younger sister in a rented house under Janak ganj police station limits in the district and the accused is the son of the landlord.
Women's bodies were said to have been unearthed and desecrated on several occasions. A necrophilia case was reported in Pakistan in 2011 when a grave keeper named Muhammad Rizwan from North Nazimabad, Karachi was arrested after he confessed to raping 48 female corpses.
