Amid reports of an internal rift in the Congress in Karnataka, the State's Deputy Chief Minister, DK Shivakumar on Monday said that his duty was to save the party and the government.
Randeep Surjewala, AICC general secretary in-charge of Karnataka, on Friday dismissed the reports that Minister Satish Jarkiholi was served notice by Congress high command for his public statement regarding the change of leadership in the state's unit of the party.
"It was decided... There was a qualifier there that in the exigencies of a situation, the rule can be relaxed. So, it can't be followed in breach but largely--in 90 per cent of the cases--it will be one person, one post," the Congress MP said.
Notably, a meeting of the Congress Legislature Party (CLP) is being held along with the meeting of Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) members on Monday over several issues.
