In exile since 2019, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PMLN) supremo Nawaz Sharif is likely return to Pakistan, Geo News reported, adding that once back, he may chair the party's parliamentary board for finalising candidates for the upcoming provincial elections in the country.
Nawaz Sharif and his daughter, PML-N chief organiser Maryam Nawaz have been in the UK since November 2019 and October 2022, respectively, for different medical reasons, the report added.
Senior superintendent of police operations Kashif Aftab Abbasi said that police station Sarband was attacked with grenades and sniper guns fitted with night vision thermal goggles.
Pakistan has denied an Afghan media report that alleged that Pakistan forces conducted air strikes on the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) leaders in Afghanistan's Nangahar province.
"If the TTP decides to come under the ambit of the Constitution, then we can hold talks with them," Pakistan's Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah has said.
This comes a day after Pakistan Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah on Tuesday said that there will be no talks with TTP or any other terrorist organization, Geo News reported. Sanaullah's remarks come amid a recent spate of attacks by the banned TTP after the group ended a ceasefire with Islam
This latest statement comes after the Taliban rejected comments made by Pakistan's interior minister about the presence of Tehreek Taliban Pakistan (TTP) in Afghanistan. The Islamic group said that it is prepared to protect the country's sovereignty and territorial integrity.
"Imran Khan concocts new stories every other day; however, no message regarding the technocrat government was conveyed," Sanaullah was cited by Geo News as saying.
