Ramsar Sites are wetlands of international importance, designated under the criteria of the Ramsar Convention on Wetlands for containing representative, rare or unique wetland types or for their importance in conserving biological diversity.
Leh (Ladakh) [India], December 24 (ANI): India has added Tso Kar Wetland Complex in Ladakh as its 42nd Ramsar site, the second one in the Union Territory (UT) of Ladakh, according to the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change.
New Delhi [India], November 16 (ANI): India has named two more wetlands of international importance-- Lonar lake in Maharashtra and Sur Sarovar in Agra-- under the Ramsar Convention, Union Minister of Environment, Forest and Climate Change Prakash Javadekar said on Sunday.
