Facing a backlash over his tirade against BSP MP Danish Ali on the floor of the Lok Sabha during a discussion on the country's successful lunar landing mission — Chandrayaan-3, BJP MP Ramesh Bidhuri on Sunday sidestepped a direct query on his remarks.
Addressing an event in the national capital on Sunday, the Congress leader said, "What you're seeing today, Bidhuri, and then suddenly this Nishikant Dubey, this is all the BJP trying to distract from the idea of the Caste census."
Terming the allegations, levelled by Bharatiya Janata Party leader Nishikant Dubey at him, as baseless, BSP MP Danish Ali on Saturday said that he has not yet stooped too low to make such comments on the country's Prime Minister.
Amid the controversy over Ramesh Bidhuri's objectionable remarks targeted at BSP MP Danish Ali in the Lok Sabha, Bharatiya Janata Party leader Nishikant Dubey on Saturday said that his fellow party lawmaker got "provoked" as the Muslim MP kept calling Prime Minister Narendra Modi "neech".
"This shows the BJP only practices politics of hatred and nothing else. This episode shows the reality and motive of the Modi government and the hidden agenda of the session in the New Parliament," Congress MP Adhir Ranjan said.
"The language used against Danish Ali is not only unparliamentary. It is a blot on the country's cultural heritage and its foundation," Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut said.
"BJP in order to dismiss this matter will show that they are taking action on it but this isn't the question. The question is, what makes BJP leaders talk in this manner again and again?" Khurshid told ANI.
