New Congress government in the state is free to review the decisions of the previous government, said Himachal Pradesh former Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur.
Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, Congress Himachal Pradesh in-charge Rajeev Shukla and some other Congress leaders were also present during the courtesy meeting.
Himachal Pradesh Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar on accepting the resignation tendered by the outgoing Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur requested the present government to continue in office and discharge its functions till the new assembly is constituted and the new government is formed.
"I have handed over my resignation to the Governor. Will never stop working for the development of people. We need to analyse things. There were some issues that changed the direction of the results. I will go to Delhi if they call us," said Outgoing Himachal Pradesh CM Jairam Thakur.
Jai Ram Thakur took a jibe at Rahul Gandhi who is on Bharat Jodo Yatra and said the Congress leader has been "sent on the yatra so that he keeps away from the elections".
Polling for 68 legislative assembly seats in Himachal Pradesh was held on November 12, and the state recorded a 75.6 per cent voter turnout and thus breaking the 2017 record. The results are scheduled to be declared on December 8.
The Central government deployed 67 companies of Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) comprising 6,700 personnel and 15 CRPF companies for holding free and fair Assembly polls in Himachal Pradesh.
The polling will take place on November 12 after a hectic campaign. Himachal Pradesh has seen alternate governments between BJP and Congress over the past few decades and the BJP has expressed confidence of retaining power in the hill state.
