An all-party meeting, called by the central government, to discuss the Pahalgam terrorist attack is likely to be convened at 6 pm at the Parliament on Thursday.
The mortal remains of Indian Navy Lieutenant Vinay Narwal, who was killed in the Pahalgam terror attack, were brought to his residence in Karnal for the last rites on Wednesday.
"The situation in Jammu and Kashmir is very tense. It is a very sad day for the people of Jammu and Kashmir. Innocent people have been murdered. This is genocide, target killing. People are being killed in the name of religion, and murderers are roaming free there," Amritpal Singh told ANI.
Nareshbhai Kalathiya, a close relative of a Surat resident killed in the Pahalgam terrorist attack, expressed anger over the loss of his cousin brother and urged the central government to take immediate and decisive action against the terrorists.
Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Wednesday expressed deep sorrow over the loss of innocent lives in the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir and vowed that the government would respond with firm action and reiterated India's uncompromising stand against terrorism.
According to sources, top officers have rushed to the affected areas, with local security forces in alert and additional troops are being inducted in the area to carry out the search and destroy operations to nab the terrorists responsible for the attack.
HM Amit Shah condemned the Pahalgam attack and said the perpetrators will face the harshest action. He briefed PM Modi and will visit Srinagar. Rajnath Singh also condemned the incident. J&K LG and CM termed it a serious civilian attack.
