Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday expressed grief over the loss of lives in a tragic mishap in Jaipur district and announced an ex-gratia from the Prime Minister's National Relief Fund (PMNRF) for the next of kin of the deceased.
Sharing the details about the tragedy, a member of one of the victim's families said to reporters, "A total of 18 people were in the bus, including 4-5 children. They had all gone to Kolayat. My family members were there in the bus, including my brother and sons' wives."
The Union Minister also provided details on the government's response. He said that several others sustained injuries in the tragic incident, with 16 people admitted to a hospital in Jodhpur.
An official statment from the PMO on Tuesday read, "Distressed by the loss of lives due to a mishap in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan. My thoughts are with the affected people and their families during this difficult time. Praying for the speedy recovery of the injured."
Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma took cognizance of the accident and instructed the administration to ensure proper treatment to the injured.

In a shocking incident in the Sangaria region of Hanumangarh district, a young man was brutally beaten to death in the village of Jandwala Sikhan in a dispute over a bike collision involving him and the assailants.
Six people were killed and five others were injured as two cars collided in Laxmangarh tehsil of Sikar district of Rajastha, a top police official said.
According to officials, the victim pedestrians were from a group called 'Ramdevra Paidal Yatri' and were heading towards Ramdevra when the incident took place.
