The Kedarnath Yatra in Uttarakhand has been temporarily halted for three days due to a red alert issued by the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) predicting heavy rainfall in the region.

A landslide caused by rain has blocked the road in Nandprayag. Work is underway to clear it, and all other roads in the district are open with smooth traffic, said an official on Monday.

Two more people died in Punjab due to heavy monsoon rains, raising the death toll to 166. Several cities experienced flooding and power outages. Authorities warned of low-level river flooding and urged residents to avoid water bodies and stay alert, with safety measures already in place.
The cumulative report for the period from June 20 to August 9 shows that the rains have caused extensive damage to public and private property, livestock, crops, and essential infrastructure across the state. Over 1,98,881 lakh rupees in total losses have been recorded.
